Job summary

Costerfield Operations in Central Victoria is seeking a qualified Motor Mechanic/LV Fitter to maintain and repair fleet vehicles and equipment, ensuring safety, reliability and peak performance in a mining setting.

Reporting to the Maintenance Leading Hand, you will work hands-on in a team that supports underground operations and onsite processing. Excellent diagnostic skills and a safety-focused approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Motor Mechanic (Certificate III or equivalent).
• Experience servicing light vehicles and mobile equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities.
• Commitment to workplace safety and compliance.
• Current and valid driver’s licence.

Costerfield Operations, owned and operated by Alkane Resources Ltd, is situated in Central Victoria, east of Bendigo and surrounded by numerous towns within a 50km radius, offering a variety of residential options.

Our current operation runs an underground mine and processing plant that is responsible for producing gold and antimony. The mine's workforce consists of approximately 300 permanent employees who hold various roles in professional, technical, mining, processing, and trades.

Please note: Costerfield Operations is a residential mine and do not facilitate FIFO.

The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Leading Hand, we are seeking a qualified Motor Mechanic/LV Fitter to join our mining operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance and repair services across our fleet, ensuring vehicles and equipment are safe, reliable, and operating at peak performance.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Fault finding
• Component rebuilding
• Reading schematics and manual
• Welding (desirable, not essential)
• Experience working in underground operations (desirable, not essential)
• Experience working with air conditioning (desirable, not essential)

The Person

We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Motor Mechanic/ LV Fitter who takes pride in delivering quality workmanship and thrives in a hands-on mining environment. You will be a reliable team player with strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, capable of working independently while contributing positively to the maintenance team.

We are seeking an individual who possesses:

• Trade qualification as a Motor Mechanic (Certificate III or equivalent)

• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities
• A commitment to workplace safety and compliance
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
