The Mining Engineer in Technical Services will support design, planning, ventilation and services management with a focus on continuous improvement, underground design, risk assessment and project delivery within a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• 2–3 years experience essential.
• Underground mining experience preferred.
• Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop mine design, planning and design documentation.
• Conduct risk assessment and risk management.
• Perform underground inspections of working areas.
• Design and modelling of mine ventilation and critical services.
• Ventilation QAQC to ensure safe and efficient designs.
• Optimize operational ventilation.
• Lead design improvement projects within the technical team.
• Assist with underground and surface infrastructure projects.

Costerfield

Costerfield Operations, owned and operated by Alkane Resources Ltd, is situated in Central Victoria, east of Bendigo and surrounded by numerous towns within a 50km radius, offering a variety of residential options.

Our current operation runs an underground mine and processing plant that is responsible for producing gold and antimony. The mine's workforce consists of approximately 300 permanent employees who hold various roles in professional, technical, mining, processing, and trades.

Please note: Costerfield Operations is a residential mine and does not facilitate FIFO.

Requirements

The Role

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent the Mining Engineer will work as an integral member of our high-performing technical team to deliver professional development design and planning, ventilation and services management, and continuous improvement initiatives. As a Mining Engineer in the Technical Services department, you will perform tasks such as:

• Development mine design, planning, and design documentation.
• Risk assessment and risk management.
• Underground inspections of working areas and areas to be designed.
• Design and modelling of mine ventilation and critical mine services.
• Ventilation QAQC to ensure designs are efficient and achieving safe outcomes.
• Optimisation of operational ventilation.
• Leading technological and design improvement projects within the technical team.
• Assistance with design and planning of underground and surface infrastructure projects.

The Person

We are seeking an individual who possesses:

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Engineering discipline
• Between 2-3 years experience essential
• Previous experience working underground
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, continuous improvement and technical
• Self-starter with a strong work ethic
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a focused technical team
• Ability to influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
