Job summary

RSL Victoria is seeking a Military Compensation Advocate to work from the Geelong Hub, delivering compensation support and advocacy to serving and ex-serving ADF members. You will assess clients, prepare claims, handle documentation, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve entitlement issues.

The role is part-time, Monday to Friday, with a focus on empathy, clear communication, and handling sensitive situations.

The Returned & Services League - Victorian Branch (RSL Victoria) is Victoria’s largest and oldest veteran charity. Our mission is to provide the best possible supports and services to all generations of veterans in Victoria. The State Branch office of RSL Victoria provides overarching leadership to our network of over 260 Sub-Branches and represents our 200,000+ members on veteran related issues. As a member of RSL Victoria you directly contribute to this mission through our veterans’ support services, veteran advocacy, commemoration of service, and fostering of camaraderie amongst serving and ex-serving Defence Force personnel working with the Sub-Branch network.

About the role

We have a rewarding and exciting opportunity to join the team as a Military Compensation Advocate. In this role you willassist serving and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) with compensation support and advocacy. You will be accountable for a broad range of activities from client assessment and liaison, claims documentation and administration and engagement with internal and external stakeholders. You will be the point of contact for veterans' compensation and entitlement dealings and will have an allocated caseload, so you will need to be able to manage client expectations, work to tight deadlines and with often distressing or confronting subject matter.

This is a part-time role working Monday to Friday (68.4 hours per fortnight), based at Geelong Hub, Victoria within the Veterans & Families Services team.

About you

You will have experience in a community services environment in a similar support type role. Be confident in your approach to engage with a range of people and complex sensitive matters, you will have a caring demeanour, be highly organised, an active listener and outstanding communicator with a strong work ethic. You willuphold the values of RSL Victoria andrelish in being part of an organisation that encourages collaboration, sharing of ideas and continuous improvement and have empathy with and a desire to support veterans and their families.

Other essentials for the role:

• Experience with veterans and/or knowledge of issues facing the veteran community.
• Sound use of Microsoft technologies (Office 365) and experience with a CRM (Salesforce).
• Qualified as a level 1 or 2 Advocate under the ATDP (highly desirable)
