Job summary

Cairns GP Medical Centre – Cairns North QLD is seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to join our busy general practice. This full-time role requires at least two years of medical receptionist experience and practical experience using Best Practice software.

You will manage calls, bookings and patient enquiries, maintain day-to-day front desk workflow, support patient flow and provider utilisation, and ensure a friendly, efficient reception area for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• At least two years’ experience as a medical receptionist.
• Demonstrated experience using Best Practice software.
• Ability to manage a high volume of calls and competing priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide patients with general preparation and billing information for appointments and procedures.
• Provide friendly, professional and efficient reception services to patients, doctors and visitors.
• Manage incoming calls, patient enquiries, appointment bookings and day-to-day front desk workflow
• Support appointment book management, patient flow and provider utilisation
• Respond to patient concerns and escalations calmly, respectfully and in line with practice processes
• Maintain a tidy, organised and welcoming reception area
• Support clear communication between patients, doctors, nurses and administration staff
