Job summary

Lumus Imaging in Newcastle is seeking a friendly and professional hospital administrator to be the first point of contact for patients. You will welcome arrivals, manage appointments across imaging modalities, and handle billing and enquiries to keep the department running smoothly.

You will work alongside radiographers and support staff, with on-site training, a calm patient-focused approach, and opportunities to develop skills in medical administration within our nationwide network.

Qualifications

• Experience in reception or customer service; medical, hospital or radiology experience is a bonus
• Warm, calm, and professional with patients
• Strong attention to detail and confidence with computer systems
• Great communication skills and a genuine team-player attitude
• Comfortable working in a busy hospital environment

Responsibilities

• Welcoming patients and managing arrivals with warmth and efficiency
• Scheduling and confirming appointments across multiple imaging modalities
• Processing Medicare, DVA, private health and hospital billing accurately
• Handling phone and email enquiries from patients, referrers and hospital wards
• Maintaining accurate patient records and supporting smooth department flow
• Working closely with clinical staff and hospital teams to keep the day running seamlessly

About the role

As the first point of contact for our patients, you'll set the tone for their entire visit. Your day will include:

About you

• Previous experience in reception or customer service. Medical, hospital or radiology experience is a bonus, but not essential
• A warm, calm and professional manner, especially with patients who may be anxious or unwell
• Strong attention to detail and confidence with computer systems
• Great communication skills and a genuine team-player attitude
• Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced hospital environment
