Job summary

Ballarto Medical Centre in Carrum Downs is seeking a medical receptionist to be the first point of contact for patients, providing courteous, empathetic service and coordinating with doctors and nurses. The role requires flexibility within a roster that covers early to late hours and teamwork to support the clinic.

The clinic is a long-established family practice with a supportive admin team, open from 7:30am to 7:30pm, and a focus on confidentiality, patient records, and effective communication

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as a receptionist in a medical clinic setting.
• Experience with medical practice management software is required, with any system acceptable.
• Strong, professional and polite communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Must have full work rights.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the highest level of quality care and service for patients from arrival at the clinic.
• Support GPs and nurses in day-to-day tasks.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and manage records.
• Liaise with Medicare, TAC and other insurance providers.
• Communicate professionally with doctors, nurses, staff and patients.
• Ability to multitask and manage a high call volume.
• Complete daily reception and cleaning tasks to a high standard.

Job description

As a medical receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for all our patients. You will need to be well-presented, courteous and committed to providing excellent customer service. High level communication skills, the ability to show empathy to patients, and a commitment to address their concerns and work as part of a team is paramount. The clinic is open from 7:30am to 7:30pm so the candidate must be able to work these hours as part of their roster, and have flexibility where required to assist the team.

Key responsibilities

• Supporting the GP's and nurses
• Ensuring confidentiality and management of patient records
• Liaising with Medicare, TAC and other insurance companies
• Communicating professionally with doctors, nurses, other staff, and patients
• Ability to multitask and prioritise workloads, including managing a high call volume
• Ability to complete daily reception and cleaning tasks to a high standard

About you

• Experience with medical practice management software is required, with any system acceptable
• Strong, professional and polite communication skills, both written and verbal
