Job summary

Chandler Macleod is seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters for fixed plant maintenance opportunities with Rio Tinto in Gladstone, primarily at Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL), with opportunities at Yarwun also available. This role is based in Gladstone or surrounding areas and suits qualified fitters with proven heavy industrial maintenance experience.

You will perform breakdown, preventative maintenance and fault finding on fixed plant equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, valves, motors

Qualifications

• Cert III in Mechanical Fitting / Fitter & Turner is mandatory.
• Current C Class Driver Licence is mandatory.
• Right to work in Australia.
• Current and relevant fixed plant / heavy industrial mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience with breakdown, preventative maintenance and fault finding.
• Be based in Gladstone or surrounding areas.

Job description

Chandler Macleod is currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters for fixed plant maintenance opportunities with Rio Tinto in Gladstone, primarily at Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL), with opportunities at Yarwun also available. These positions are ideal for qualified Mechanical Fitters / Fitters & Turners with proven experience maintaining fixed plant and heavy industrial equipment. This is a Gladstone based position for candidates residing in Gladstone or surrounging areas.

About the roles

We have a range of short-term and longer-term opportunities, with the majority of current requirements based at BSL.

• Breakdown maintenance and fault finding
• Preventative and planned maintenance
• Mechanical repairs and servicing of fixed plant
• Working on equipment including pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, valves, motors and associated fixed plant
• Working safely within a heavy industrial environment

What we're looking for

To be considered, you must have:

• Cert III in Mechanical Fitting / Fitter & Turner – mandatory
• Current C Class Driver Licence – mandatory
• Right to work in Australia
• Current and relevant fixed plant / heavy industrial mechanical maintenance experience
• Experience with breakdown, preventative maintenance and fault finding
• Ability to work safely in a heavy industrial environment
• Be based in Gladstone or surrounding areas

Please note: These positions are specifically for fixed plant mechanical maintenance. Diesel Fitters, Mobile Plant Fitters and candidates whose experience is primarily mobile equipment are not suitable for these opportunities.

Rosters & opportunities

We have opportunities across different assignment durations, so we can discuss your preferred length of engagement during the recruitment process. Rosters may include Lifestyle rosters covering days, nights and weekends, as well as Monday–Friday day shift opportunities, depending on the position.
