Job summary

Maspro Engineering in Sydney is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to assemble hydraulic cylinders and precision mining components. You will provide technical oversight to a small Assembly Technician team, ensuring safe, high-quality workmanship and accurate interpretation of drawings.

The role demands hands-on fitting experience, strong problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to coaching others. This is a permanent, on-site position in Wetherill Park backed by an Australian-owned manufacturer.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in mechanical fitting or equivalent.
• Experience in mechanical fitting and hydraulic assembly.
• Ability to read drawings and use workshop tools.
• Capability to coach and develop junior technicians.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fit and inspect hydraulic cylinders and mining components.

The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our manufacturing and assembly team at Wetherill Park. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll use your trade expertise to assemble and fit hydraulic cylinders and other mining components, while providing technical guidance and oversight to a small team of Assembly Technicians. You’ll play an important part in ensuring work is completed safely and to our quality standards, checking completed work, troubleshooting issues and coaching others to develop their skills.

What you’ll be doing:

• Assemble, fit and inspect hydraulic cylinders and other precision‑engineered mining components.

• Provide technical oversight and guidance to Assembly Technicians, ensuring work is completed safely and to the required quality standards.

• Check and verify assembly work, identifying and addressing quality or technical issues.

• Coach and mentor Assembly Technicians, helping them build practical skills, confidence and capability.

• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances to ensure accurate assembly.

• Troubleshoot fitting and assembly issues, using your trade knowledge to find practical solutions.

• Work with the team to identify opportunities to improve quality, safety and efficiency.

What you’ll bring:

• A relevant mechanical trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting).

• Experience in mechanical fitting, hydraulic assembly, heavy industrial equipment or similar work.

• Confidence reading engineering drawings and using workshop tools and equipment.

• Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and practical problem‑solving skills.

• The ability to provide practical guidance, share your trade knowledge and support the development of less experienced team members.

• A reliable, safety‑conscious approach and pride in your workmanship.

Experience with hydraulic cylinders or mining equipment would be an advantage, but we’re equally interested in Fitters with transferable skills and a willingness to learn.
