Job summary

PERSAS in Rutherford, NSW, seeks an On-Site and Workshop Technician to service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic tooling. You will work in the workshop and at customer sites, with up to 5-7 days per month away from home to visit Hunter Valley, Mudgee, Ulan, Gunnedah and Narrabri areas.

At PERSAS you’ll perform inspections, tests, calibrations, and data entry via a tablet, while maintaining WHS practices and OEM standards in a mining and industrial tooling environment.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate in fitter or Cert III Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years' mechanical fitting experience with hydraulic/pneumatic tool fault-finding and repair.
• A safety-first mindset is essential.
• Ability to travel and stay away from home when on-site.
• MR license would be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform interval inspection of tooling and equipment to ensure safety and compliance.
• Carry out tooling and equipment testing using specialised calibration and testing equipment in onsite test trucks.
• Enter accurate equipment information and test results into our asset management system through a tablet.
• Clearly communicate with site staff regarding equipment failures and compliance.
• Make minor repairs to onsite equipment.
• Accurately record and monitor inventory usage onsite.
• Strip, assess and rebuild equipment in the Rutherford workshop.
• Diagnose, service, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic tools including cylinders and hydraulic pumps.
• Ensure compliance with OEM standards and customer expectations.

Job description

As our business is growing, we have an exciting new opportunity for an On-Site and Workshop Technician to join the team. This role is suited to a highly skilled Mechanical Fitter with prior experience in hydraulics and pneumatic tooling service and repairs who can set the benchmark for safety and quality. This is a unique opportunity to grow and develop with a market leading, mining and industrial tooling company.

The role requires you to work both at our workshop as well as customer sites. You will be responsible for providing accurate inspections and high-quality testing of equipment on our customers sites while communicating with on-site teams, following WHS practices and individual site requirements. This role will involve up to 5-7 days per month working away from home doing on-site visits to Hunter Valley, Mudgee, Ulan, Gunnedah and Narrabri areas. When not on-site, this role will form part of our workshop team based at Rutherford, servicing and repairing tooling and equipment. At PERSAS we work a 38 hours/4 day week and you get every Friday off, unless you would like to pick up some overtime on a Friday!

About the role:

• Diagnose, service, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic tools including cylinders, heavy lift jacks, hydraulic pumps and battery torque equipment.
• Ensure compliance with OEM standards and customer expectations.
• Have a safety first mindset and follow all PERSAS and Customers operational and WHS procedure.

What we are looking for:

• Trade certificate in fitter qualification or Cert III Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years’ mechanical fitting experience with hydraulic/pneumatic tool fault-finding and repair.
• A safety-first mindset is a must have.
• Ability to travel and work away from home as required when on-site.
• Hydraulics repairs/diagnostics/certificates and training a major advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
• Good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft office and tablet use.
• A can-do attitude with a desire to learn.
• Knowledge of torque equipment and calibration would be highly desirable.
• MR License would be an added advantage.
