Job summary

Visy is recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter Apprentice at our Smithfield Beverage Can plant. You’ll learn from skilled tradespeople while developing practical maintenance, fault finding and repair skills in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

You'll complete a four-year apprenticeship, gain hands-on experience with high-speed equipment, and graduate as a qualified Mechanical Fitter. This entry-level role offers a pathway to ongoing careers within Visy and the manufacturing sector.

Qualifications

• Completed Year 10 or above.
• Genuine interest in mechanical maintenance and manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on approach.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced tradespeople.
• Positive attitude, reliability and strong work ethic.
• Commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Complete a 4-year Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship in an FMCG manufacturing environment.
• Gain hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, fault finding, troubleshooting and equipment repairs.
• Learn preventative and breakdown maintenance techniques across high-speed automated production equipment.
• Work alongside experienced tradespeople while completing your nationally recognised trade qualifications.
• Gain exposure to a modern manufacturing facility producing more than 3 million beverage cans every day.
• Graduate as a qualified Mechanical Fitter with valuable hands-on experience and opportunities to continue building your career within the business.
