Job summary

Visy Glass Penrith offers a Mechanical Fitter apprenticeship where you will learn to maintain plants and machinery in a fast-paced FMCG environment. You will be mentored by experienced tradespeople and gain hands-on experience in preventative maintenance, fault finding, and repairs.

This is a 4-year program leading to a qualified Mechanical Fitter, with 9-day fortnights, day shifts, and opportunities for career progression within Visy.

Qualifications

• Completed Year 10 or higher with a good maths grade.
• Genuine interest in mechanical maintenance and manufacturing.
• Mechanical aptitude with a hands-on approach to learning.

A Mechanical Fitter apprenticeship with Visy Glass Penrith will introduce you to a wealth of experience in maintaining an industry which crafts pure, sustainable, and iconic glass packaging for many of the world's best-known food and beverage brands. To do this, we rely on a well-trained maintenance workforce, one you can be part of.

Reporting to the Mechanical Manager, we are looking for an intelligent enthusiastic person with an interest in mechanical work who enjoys working with their hands, to join our highly functional maintenance team. In this role you will learn to maintain all plant equipment and machinery within the site.

Hours: 35 hours per week | 9-day fortnight | Day shift | Monday to Friday

What you will learn:

• Complete a 4-year Mechanical Fitting Apprenticeship in a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment.
• Gain hands-on experience in preventative and planned maintenance, fault finding, servicing and repairs to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.
• Work alongside experienced tradespeople and develop skills across conveyors, utilities, compressors, palletisers, wrapping, bagging and strapping equipment.
• Build practical trade skills in general machining, welding, oxy cutting and plasma cutting.
• Learn to use SAP to maintain maintenance records and support maintenance planning.
• Gain exposure to high-risk work activities, including forklifts, confined spaces, EWPs, working at heights and hot works, with appropriate training.
• Support Health, Safety & Environment initiatives and contribute to a safe workplace.
• Graduate as a qualified Mechanical Fitter with hands-on experience in world-class manufacturing equipment and strong career pathways within Visy.
