Job summary

Workfast is seeking skilled Mechanical Fitters to join our mining workshop in Kurri Kurri, NSW. You'll work on underground diesel mining machinery in a 100% workshop-based role at a local facility, with no FIFO or living away from home required.

We offer a choice of rosters (4x10-hr shifts or 5x8-hr shifts), day shifts Monday to Friday, weekend downtime, and ample overtime to boost earnings. This is a domestic, non-FIFO opportunity focused on safety, quality, and people.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification required: Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and diagnostic fault-finding capabilities.
• Experience maintaining and repairing underground diesel machinery.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain underground mining equipment, including LHDs and auxiliary machinery.
• Fault-find and repair diesel engines, transmissions, gearboxes, differentials, braking and steering systems, and hydraulic components.
• Undertake major component change-outs, rebuilds, and overhauls (engines, torque converters, pumps, hydraulic cylinders).
• Complete preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing, inspections, and equipment testing.
• Accurately document repairs, maintenance activities, and testing outcomes.

• Fault-finding and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, gearboxes, differentials, braking and steering systems, and hydraulic components.
• Undertaking major component change-outs, rebuilds, and overhauls (including engines, torque converters, pumps, and hydraulic cylinders).
• Completing preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing, inspections, and comprehensive equipment testing.
• Accurately documenting repairs, maintenance activities, and testing outcomes.
• Maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and workmanship at all times.

What We’re Looking For:

• Trade qualification – Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing underground diesel machinery.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and diagnostic fault-finding capabilities, alongside proven experience undertaking component rebuilds and major mechanical overhauls.
• Desirable Extras:
  • EXDes Code experience (Highly Desirable).
  • Underground Diesel OEM experience.
  • Licensed ExDEs Workshop, CP (Competent Person), or RP (Recognised Person) experience
