Job summary

Alfabs Mining in Kurri Kurri, NSW, invites experienced Heavy Diesel Fitters or Mechanical Fitters to join a workshop-based team with casual and permanent roles.

You will diagnose, repair and overhaul underground mining equipment, including LHDs, and perform preventative maintenance to high safety standards. The roster offers 4x10 or 5x8 shifts with overtime, giving you weekends off on day shifts in a stable, supportive workshop environment.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification – Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent.
• Experience maintaining and repairing underground diesel machinery.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic and diagnostic fault-finding capabilities.
• Experience undertaking component rebuilds and major mechanical overhauls.
• EXDes Code experience – highly desirable.
• Underground Diesel OEM experience – desirable.
• Licensed ExDEs Workshop or CP experience or RP experience – desirable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain underground mining equipment, including LHDs, and auxiliary equipment.
• Fault-find and repair diesel engines, transmissions, gearboxes, differentials, braking and steering systems and hydraulic components.
• Undertake major component change-outs, rebuilds and overhauls, including engines, torque converters, pumps and hydraulic cylinders.
• Complete preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing, inspections and equipment testing.
• Accurately document repairs, maintenance activities and testing outcomes.
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality and workmanship.

About the Role

Working within our Mining Workshop, you'll be responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics, repair and overhaul of underground mining equipment, ensuring machinery is maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability and performance.
