Job summary

Alfabs Mining in Kurri Kurri (NSW) is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Fitter or Mechanical Fitter for a workshop-based role with strong earning potential and flexible working arrangements. You will maintain, diagnose, repair and overhaul underground mining equipment, with opportunities for casual or permanent employment, 4x10 or 5x8 shifts, and overtime.

A safety-focused, quality-driven approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification required: Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing underground diesel machinery.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic and diagnostic fault-finding capabilities.
• Experience undertaking component rebuilds and major mechanical overhauls.
• EXDes Code experience – highly desirable.
• Licensed ExDEs Workshop/CP/RP experience – desirable.
• Proactive approach to safety, teamwork and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain underground mining equipment, including LHDs and auxiliary equipment.
• Fault-find and repair diesel engines, transmissions, gearboxes, differentials, braking and steering systems and hydraulic components.
• Undertake major component change-outs, rebuilds and overhauls, including engines, torque converters, pumps and hydraulic cylinders.
• Complete preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing, inspections and equipment testing.
• Accurately document repairs, maintenance activities and testing outcomes.
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality and workmanship.

About the Role

Working within our Mining Workshop, you'll be responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics, repair and overhaul of underground mining equipment, ensuring machinery is maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability and performance.
