Glencore Australia’s Mount Isa Mines invites a Mechanical Engineer to join the Smelter Projects team. Based in Mount Isa, you’ll lead mechanical project delivery from concept through commissioning on one of Australia’s most significant mining and smelting operations.

This hands-on role emphasizes collaboration with operations, maintenance and project teams, with a strong focus on safety and continuous improvement, while offering long-term career development within Glencore’s global framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in mining, minerals processing, heavy industry, manufacturing or a similar environment.
• Experience across project scoping, design, fabrication, installation and commissioning activities.
• Strong planning, problem-solving and organisational skills.
• A commitment to safety leadership and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical projects safely, on time and within budget.
• Develop project scopes, engineering solutions and execution plans.
• Coordinate design, procurement, fabrication and installation activities.
• Support commissioning and project handover activities.
• Build strong working relationships with operational and maintenance teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability, safety and productivity.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, statutory requirements and site procedures.
