Job summary

seek.com.au is seeking a capable Mechanical Engineer to own HVAC pipework and tube systems, deliver high-quality outcomes, and take ownership of technical work. You will support engineering across projects and ensure compliance with standards.

You will collaborate with project managers, site teams, and internal stakeholders, reviewing drawings, tender inputs, and handover documentation. A strong background in HVAC systems and independent problem solving is essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably HVAC.
• Experience across healthcare, data centres, commercial or education sectors.
• Solid knowledge of Australian Standards, building codes and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work independently and make sound engineering decisions.
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in delivering HVAC projects across hospitals, data centres, rail infrastructure, and commercial buildings.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, drawings, and design details.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant Australian Standards, building codes, and client requirements.
• Support site teams during implementation and delivery phases.
• Review, prepare, and submit tender pricing in accordance with specifications.
• Provide HVAC/mechanical engineering input during tender stages.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
• Provide technical advice to project managers, supervisors, and internal teams.
• Prepare handover documentation for new projects.

This role is ideal for a capable and self-driven Mechanical Engineer who understands HVAC pipework and tube systems in detail, and can confidently take ownership of technical work, solve problems independently, and deliver high-quality outcomes.

You will play a key role across the team giving engineering technical support, ensuring compliance standards, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in delivering HVAC projects across hospitals, data centres, rail infrastructure, and commercial buildings
• Prepare and review technical documentation, drawings, and design details
• Ensure all work complies with relevant building codes, Australian Standards, and client requirements

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• Minimum 2+ years' experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within HVAC
• Experience across sectors such as healthcare, data centres, commercial or education
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools
• Solid understanding of HVAC systems, particularly pipework and mechanical services
• Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, building codes, and compliance requirements
• Ability to work independently and make sound engineering decisions
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
