Job summary

Wave International in Perth, WA, seeks an experienced Discipline Lead: Mechanical to guide and grow our mechanical engineering capability within a growing consultancy. You will own the mechanical discipline, influence its direction, and lead delivery across mining, resources, energy and infrastructure projects.

The role suits a Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer ready to take the next step or an experienced discipline leader seeking ownership and impact.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering with Chartered status highly regarded.
• Experience leading the design and delivery of mechanical infrastructure for underground mining projects.
• Experience in mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial environments.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary projects in consulting or site-based settings.
• Strong knowledge of materials handling, bulk solids, process plant equipment, piping, and mills/pumps.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and review technical documentation.
• Excellent project management: resource planning, workload forecasting, prioritization.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Creative, solutions-focused mindset to overcome delivery challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the mechanical engineering capability within the consultancy.
• Deliver mechanical engineering solutions across complex, multi-disciplinary projects in mining, resources, energy and infrastructure.
• Take ownership of the mechanical discipline, influencing its direction and portfolio.
• Contribute to technical design and project execution across teams.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers to strengthen capability.
