Job summary

Wave International is seeking an experienced Discipline Lead: Mechanical to lead and grow our mechanical engineering capability within a growing consultancy. Based in our Perth office, you will own the mechanical discipline, influence its direction and portfolio, and deliver mechanical engineering solutions across mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors.

Wave International is seeking an experienced Discipline Lead: Mechanical to lead and grow our mechanical engineering capability within a growing consultancy. Based in our Perth office and reporting to theGeneral Manager Engineering, this is a unique opportunity to take ownership of the mechanical discipline, influencing its direction, capability, team, and future project portfolio. You will lead the delivery of mechanical engineering solutions across complex, multi-disciplinary projects within the mining, resources, energy, and infrastructure sectors, while remaining actively involved in technical design and project execution.

This role would suit a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer ready to take the next step in their career, or an experienced discipline leader seeking the opportunity to make the role their own.

In this role, you willbe responsible for and have the following qualifications and/or skills:

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, with Chartered status highly regarded.
• Experience leading the design and delivery of mechanical infrastructure for underground hard rock mining projects, with strong knowledge of underground mine infrastructure requirements and multidisciplinary design interfaces.
• Significant experience delivering mechanical engineering projects within mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial environments.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary projects within a consulting and/or site-based environment.
• Strong technical expertise in materials handling, bulk solids management, process plant equipment, piping systems, and mechanical design is essential, including experience with crushers, mills, pumps, conveyors, and associated plant infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and review technical documentation, including calculations, specifications, reports, and engineering deliverables.
• Excellent project management skills, including resource planning, workload forecasting, and managing multiple priorities concurrently.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships.
• Creative and solutions-focused mindset, with a proven ability to overcome technical and project delivery challenges.
