2+ years' saltwater/marine aquarium retail experience highly regarded. Experienced reef hobbyists and Marine Biology/Aquatic Science graduates are also encouraged to apply. Weekend availability is essential.

Join a close-knit, energetic team that values initiative, independence and a genuine passion for the marine aquarium world. We're looking for someone who enjoys a fast-moving, hands-on environment and wants to grow with the business.

Our client is a premier marine aquarium retailer in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, working with an extensive range of marine fish, coral, reef systems and specialist aquarium products.

This isn't just another retail job. It's an opportunity to turn your marine knowledge into a career, with full operational training and a genuine pathway towards Store Management.

Why Join Us?
  • Career Path to Store Management – learn the entire operation and progressively step into greater responsibility.

  • Full Training Provided – develop your skills across livestock care, systems, customers, inventory and store operations.

  • Independence & Ownership – once trained, you'll be trusted to take ownership of the floor and operate independently.

  • Full-Time or Part-Time Opportunities – we're flexible for the right people and open to suitable permanent part-time arrangements.

  • Weekend Penalty Rates – applicable penalty rates paid in accordance with the Award.

  • Build a Career Around Your Passion – work with marine fish, coral and reef systems every day.

What You'll Do

You'll build hands-on experience across the entire operation:

  • Care for marine fish, coral and saltwater systems.

  • Manage feeding, acclimatisation, livestock health and water-quality monitoring.

  • Help customers with livestock selection, reef setups and troubleshooting.

  • Maintain tanks, filtration equipment and store presentation to a high standard.

  • Receive stock and keep the retail warehouse organised and customer-ready.

  • Learn POS, inventory, opening/closing and daily store operations.

  • Progress towards confidently running the store independently.

Who We're Looking For

You could be an experienced aquarium professional, a serious reef keeper, or an aquatic science graduate ready to turn your knowledge into a career.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate and knowledgeable about saltwater aquariums, marine fish, coral and reef systems.

  • Proactive – you see what needs doing and get on with it.

  • Friendly, confident and genuinely enjoys helping customers.

  • Reliable, trustworthy and comfortable working independently.

  • Keen to learn the commercial side of the industry and progress towards Store Management.

  • Comfortable in an active, hands-on warehouse retail environment.

  • Physically capable of safely lifting stock, salt buckets, water containers and freight up to 20kg.

  • Holder of a valid driver's licence with your own reliable transport.

  • Able to pass a National Police Check.

Previous management experience isn't required. We're looking for marine knowledge, initiative, reliability and the potential to step up.

Availability

Weekend availability is essential.

Our current staffing requirement is primarily Wednesday to Sunday, however you'll need reasonable flexibility to work other weekdays when operational requirements change.

We're open to both permanent full-time and permanent part-time candidates for the right fit.
