Job summary

Great Plains Industries Australia (GPIA) is seeking a Production Engineer focused on Continuous Improvement and Manufacturing Systems to enhance efficiency, reduce defects, and drive new product introductions on the factory floor. You will lead cross-functional improvement projects, develop tooling and processes, and provide practical engineering support across production teams.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified Engineer (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electromechanical, Automation or similar).
• Strong problem-solving, organisational and analytical skills.
• Experience using 3D CAD software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
• A practical mindset, attention to detail and willingness to get involved on the factory floor.

Responsibilities

• Identify and implement opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste whilst increasing quality and throughput.
• Investigate defects and recurring production issues using structured root-cause analysis techniques.
• Lead improvement projects from concept through to implementation and verification.
• Design and improve manufacturing work cells, tooling, fixtures and production equipment to improve safety, efficiency and repeatability.
• Develop and improve product testing and calibration systems using LabVIEW software.
• Create and maintain manufacturing processes, work instructions and technical documentation.
• Develop manufacturing methods, tooling, test processes and supporting documentation for the transition of new products from design into manufacturing.
• Work closely with Engineering to ensure smooth and efficient product launches.
• Assist with corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide practical engineering support to manufacturing operations.
• Assist with automation, test systems and manufacturing process development projects.
