Job summary

Novotel Melbourne South Wharf is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operation of the Engineering department. You will supervise a team of three Maintenance Technicians, drive preventative maintenance, repairs, and compliance, and contribute to hotel improvement projects.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this working leadership role keeps you on the tools while coordinating the team, collaborating with Front Office, Housekeeping and other departments to

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance or facilities management in hospitality.
• Experience leading or supervising a small team.
• Strong practical maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to plan, prioritise and work independently.
• Proactive approach with confidence to make decisions.
• Excellent communication skills and customer service mindset.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Computer literacy; HUB OS & Opera Cloud preferred.
• Flexibility to provide weekend coverage and after-hours support.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of three Maintenance Technicians.
• Undertake preventative and reactive maintenance across the hotel.
• Coordinate daily maintenance priorities and workload.
• Troubleshoot building, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Manage room maintenance requests and minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate maintenance, compliance and safety records.
• Coordinate and supervise external contractors.
• Assist rostering, training and performance support.
• Monitor utility consumption and identify efficiency opportunities.
• Conduct safety inspections and promote a strong safety culture.
• Support emergency maintenance requirements and critical incidents.
• Collaborate with Front Office, Housekeeping and other departments for guest experience.
