Job summary

Meriton Suites is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor at Herschel Street Hotel to coordinate maintenance, housekeeping and front office for a cohesive guest experience. You will lead the team, ensure safety standards, and maintain suites, public areas and back of house.

The role requires proven hotel maintenance experience, strong leadership, and the ability to work unsupervised. A 7-day rotating roster and safety tests are part of the onboarding process.

Responsibilities

• Foster a cohesive environment between maintenance, housekeeping and front office.
• Ensure maintenance staff meet service and safety standards across hotel operations.
• Support in maintaining and upkeeping the property and facilities at all times.
• Fitting, testing, repairing, and replacing fixtures and fittings.
• Perform basic plumbing, carpentry, welding, and safety checks.
• Report significant repairs to management and check safety equipment.
• Clear gutters and common areas of rubbish and debris.
• Manage painting, plastering, and lock changes as required.

Job description

Meriton Suites is currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to support our Herschel Street Hotel.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Hotel Manager and Area Maintenance Manager, as the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for facilitating a cohesive environment between maintenance, housekeeping and front office departments and ensure all maintenance staff are meeting service and safety standards across hotel operations and facilities, including suites, public areas and back of house.

Your key responsibilities

• Preferred trade certification and experience
• Will have a proven history working in a hotel, or similar
• Strongleadership skills and building management knowledge
• Being able to effectively support a team in a safe working environment
• Support in the maintaining and upkeep of the property and facilities at all times

Daily duties may include, but not limited to

• Fitting, testing, repairing and replacing fixtures and fittings, including lightbulbs, windows, doors, and handrails
• Performing basic plumbing maintenance and repairs on taps, basins and toilets
• Performing basic carpentry, including hanging and replacing doors and operating power tools
• Performing minor welds to fabricate or repair fixtures
• Checking safety equipment such as fire hoses, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and alarms
• Reporting requirements for significant repairs to management
• Clearing gutters and common areas of rubbish and debris
• Applying and repairing paint and plaster
• Changing locks on doors and windows

To be successful in this role you will have

• Professional approach in dealing with guests and other staff members whilst carrying out your daily tasks
