Job summary

Prosail Queensland in Queensland, Whitsunday region, seeks an experienced marine maintenance technician to oversee routine maintenance and repairs for our charter fleet. You will plan inspections, manage the workshop, and coordinate with operations to ensure vessels stay in safe, seaworthy condition.

The role requires hands-on skills with diesel engines, electrical systems, and fabrication, with flexibility to work weekends and variable sailings.

Qualifications

• Experience with vessel maintenance and repairs in a marine operations context.
• Ability to plan inspections for Fire/Gas/Rigging and coordinate schedules.
• Experience managing workshop space, tools, and parts inventory.
• Willingness to work weekends when required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee routine maintenance and breakdown work per the fleet management program Seaflux.
• Liaise with company directors on issues and works needed.
• Record and document maintenance tasks and scheduling.
• Plan and book inspections for Fire/Gas/Rigging etc.
• Plan and manage slipping/haul out periods.
• Manage workshop space, equipment, and tools.
• Order parts/spares/stock.
• Liaise with operations manager for repairs and maintenance.
• Manage crew maintenance/education for tasks on charter.
• Ensure vessel tenders are serviced and in good order.
• Assist with operations when needed.
• Move vessels between berths and anchor.

Job description

Approximately40 hours, start and finish times will vary due to vessel departures and return times, lay days and slipping periods. Will include weekend work as required. SALARY DOA depending on skill set and qualifications

A work phone is provided. Fuel is paid for if using own car. Driver's license essential.

• Liaise and report to company directors on issues and works needed
• Record and document maintenance tasks and scheduling
• Plan and book inspections for Fire/Gas/Rigging Etc.
• Plan and manage slipping/haul out periods
• Managing of workshop space, equipment, and tools
• Ordering of parts/spares/stock
• Liaise with operations manager for any required repairs and maintenance
• Manage crew maintenance/education for tasks to be completed while on charter
• Ensure vessel tenders are serviced and in good working order
• Assist with operations when needed
• Vessel Movements between berths and anchor

Skills needed:

• Trade qualifications / skill are highly advantageous
