Job summary

The Port of Brisbane is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Coordinator to support the maintenance and reliability of our marine support craft fleet. Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring our vessels remain safe, compliant and ready to operate through effective maintenance planning, fault finding, contractor management and technical support.

You will troubleshoot faults, coordinate repairs, manage work orders in our CMMS, and collaborate with vessel crews

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in a mechanical discipline (Fitter & Turner, Diesel Fitter, Marine Engineer or similar).
  • Experience maintaining or coordinating maintenance for marine, industrial or fleet assets.
  • Strong fault finding, troubleshooting and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritise maintenance while ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Experience with CMMS and procurement processes.
  • Effective communication with vessel crews, contractors and internal teams.
  • Experience with welding, fabrication, blasting and painting advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, coordinating and delivering planned and corrective maintenance across the support craft fleet.
  • Troubleshoot vessel defects and provide technical advice to vessel crews, workshop personnel and contractors.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, repairs and refits to minimise operational disruption.
  • Monitor and manage work orders within the CMMS, ensuring accurate records and timely completion of maintenance activities.
  • Analyse vessel reliability trends and contribute to asset improvement and lifecycle planning initiatives.

  • Trade qualification in a mechanical discipline such asFitter & Turner, Diesel Fitter, Marine Engineer orsimilar.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining, repairing orcoordinating maintenance for marine, industrial, heavyequipment or fleet assets.
  • Finely tuned fault finding, troubleshooting and practicalproblem solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritise competing maintenance requirementswhile maintaining safety, compliance and operationalperformance.
  • Experienced or ability to learn maintenance managementsystems (CMMS) and procurement processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vessel crews,contractors and internal teams.
  • Experience with welding, fabrication, blasting and paintingactivities will be advantageous.
