Job summary

Aurizon is seeking a qualified Locomotive Driver to join our rail freight operations based at Junee. This role focuses on the safe operation of freight services and the certification of trains while maintaining on-time running across the network.

You will operate locomotives including mainline, shunting and marshalling, perform brake tests, and deliver high quality customer service to help Aurizon meet its business objectives.

Qualifications

• Freight and/or heavy haul locomotive driving experience.
• Certificate IV in Rail Operations (or equivalent) is required.
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Operate locomotives including mainline, shunting and marshalling.
• Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
• Maintain a high level of on-time running.
• Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives.
• Provide high quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives.

About the role:

In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of freight services across the rail network.

Location: Junee

• Operation of locomotives including mainline, shunting and marshalling.
• Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
• Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures.
• Maintain a high level of on-time running.
• Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives.
• Provide high quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives.

About you:

• Strong commitment to safety and Aurizon’s safety strategy "I Know Safe, I Choose Safe".
• Must be available to work a 24/7 shift roster.
• Experience working in any of the following Safe Working systems an advantage: NSW & VIC
• Extensive freight and/or heavy haulage locomotive driving experience
• A Certificate IV in Rail Operations (or equivalent)
• NSW & VIC Safe Working
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence
