Job summary

Aurizon is seeking a qualified Locomotive Driver to join our expanding rail freight operations based at Junee. You will safely operate freight services, inspect trains, and maintain on-time performance across the network.

Key requirements include extensive freight locomotive driving experience and a Certificate IV in Rail Operations. NSW/VIC Safe Working knowledge is advantageous, with a commitment to Aurizon’s safety culture and customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to safety and Aurizon safety strategy.
• Experience operating freight/locomotives with a strong safety record.
• Ability to work a 24/7 roster and adjust to shift patterns.

Responsibilities

• Operate locomotives on mainline, shunting and marshalling.
• Certify trains as ready for departure and maintain on-time running.
• Conduct brake testing and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Provide high quality customer service to support business objectives.

About the role:

In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of freight services across the rail network.

• Operation of locomotives including mainline, shunting and marshalling.
• Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
• Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures.
• Maintain a high level of on-time running.
• Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives.
• Provide high quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Strong commitment to safety and Aurizon’s safety strategy “I Know Safe, I Choose Safe”.
• Must be available to work a 24/7 shift roster.
• Experience working in any of the following Safe Working systems an advantage: NSW & VIC
• Extensive freight and/or heavy haulage locomotive driving experience
• A Certificate IV in Rail Operations (or equivalent)
• NSW & VIC Safe Working
