Job summary

Job description

Aurizon is seeking qualified Locomotive Drivers to join our Berrimah depot in Darwin.

As a Locomotive Driver with Aurizon - Bulk Central, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating locomotives, ensuring the smooth transport of freight across our extensive rail network. You will work within a supportive, safety-conscious team, striving for operational excellence and maintaining the highest service standards.

Please note, these positions are not FIFO/DIDO. Sign on incentive and relocation support available for permanent appointments. Conditions apply and will be discussed during the recruitment process.

About the Role:
  • Operation of locomotives, including mainline, shunting, and marshalling.
  • Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
  • Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of on-time running.
  • Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives.
  • Provide high-quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives.

  • Strong commitment to safety and Aurizon’s safety strategy “I Know Safe, I Choose Safe.”
  • Availability to work a 24/7 shift roster.
  • All Freight Train Driver qualifications will be considered.
  • Applicants holding yard driving qualifications or other relevant rail qualifications are also encouraged to apply. Suitability will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account experience, qualifications, and Aurizon's ability to provide any required gap training.
  • The ability to successfully pass pre-employment checks such as driving history checks, reference checks, and a CAT 1 Rail medical is required for these roles.
