Job summary

Aurizon is seeking qualified Locomotive Drivers to join our Berrimah depot in Darwin. You will safely operate locomotives, ensuring efficient freight transport across our rail network and maintain high service standards.

These roles include sign-on incentive and relocation support for permanent appointments. Availability for a 24/7 roster, adherence to safety policies, and successful pre-employment checks are required.

Job description

Aurizon is seeking qualified Locomotive Drivers to join our Berrimah depot in Darwin.

As a Locomotive Driver with Aurizon - Bulk Central, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating locomotives, ensuring the smooth transport of freight across our extensive rail network. You will work within a supportive, safety-conscious team, striving for operational excellence and maintaining the highest service standards.

Please note, these positions are not FIFO/DIDO. Sign on incentive and relocation support available for permanent appointments. Conditions apply and will be discussed during the recruitment process.

About the Role:

• Operation of locomotives, including mainline, shunting, and marshalling.
• Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
• Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures.
• Maintain a high level of on-time running.
• Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives.
• Provide high-quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives.

• Availability to work a 24/7 shift roster.
• All Freight Train Driver qualifications will be considered.
• Applicants holding yard driving qualifications or other relevant rail qualifications are also encouraged to apply. Suitability will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account experience, qualifications, and Aurizon's ability to provide any required gap training.
• The ability to successfully pass pre-employment checks such as driving history checks, reference checks, and a CAT 1 Rail medical is required for these roles.
