Job summary

Aurizon in Albany is seeking qualified Locomotive Drivers for a full-time permanent role in our Albany Rail Operations team. This residential position is open to locals or those willing to relocate permanently; the job requires 24/7 shift availability and a strong safety and customer-service mindset.

You will operate locomotives, perform brake tests, inspect trains, and ensure on-time running while following Aurizon's safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Extensive freight and/or heavy haul locomotive driving experience.
  • Must hold an unrestricted Class C driver's licence.
  • Demonstrated safety focus and customer service orientation.
  • Availability to work a 24/7 shift roster.

Responsibilities

  • Operate locomotives including mainline, shunting, and marshalling.
  • Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
  • Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of on-time running.
  • Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives.
  • Provide high quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives.

Aurizon is seeking applications from Qualified Locomotive Drivers to join our Albany Rail Operations Team on a full-time permanent arrangement. This opportunity is a residential role and open to applicants that either reside in Albany or are willing to relocate on a permanent basis.

This role will be suited to an individual who is able to display superior teamwork skills, flexibility, a high level of safety awareness and customer service.

About the role:
  • Operation of locomotives including mainline, shunting, and marshalling.
  • Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
  • Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of on-time running.
  • Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives.
  • Provide high quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives.

  • Strong commitment to safety and the Aurizon Safety Strategy “I Know Safe, I Choose Safe”.
  • Must be available to work 24/7 shift roster.
  • Experience in WA Safe working System is advantageous.

  • A certificate IV in Rail Operations.
