Job summary

Aurizon is seeking qualified Locomotive Drivers to join our Dry Creek depot in Adelaide, South Australia. You will operate locomotives across mainline, shunting, and marshalling, ensuring safe and on-time transport of freight within Aurizon's network.

This role requires extensive freight locomotive driving experience, adherence to ARTC Code of Practice, and a willingness to work a 24/7 roster. Sign-on incentive and relocation support are available for permanent appointments.

Qualifications

  • Extensive freight locomotive driving experience is required.
  • Experience with air brake systems is essential.
  • Knowledge of ARTC Code of Practice and Safe Working systems is advantageous.
  • Strong rail safety mindset and adherence to procedures is required.
  • Willingness to work a 24/7 roster and pass pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

  • Operate locomotives including mainline, shunting and marshalling.
  • Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
  • Adhere to Aurizon safety standards and procedures.
  • Maintain high levels of on-time running.
  • Conduct brake testing on locomotives.
  • Provide high-quality customer service to enable business objectives.

Job description

Aurizon is seeking qualified Locomotive Drivers to join our Dry Creek depot in Adelaide, South Australia.

As a Locomotive Driver with Aurizon - Bulk Central, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating locomotives, ensuring the smooth transport of freight across our extensive rail network. You will work within a supportive, safety-conscious team, striving for operational excellence and maintaining the highest service standards.

Please note, these positions are not FIFO/DIDO. Sign on incentive and relocation support available for permanent appointments. Conditions apply and will be discussed during the recruitment process.

About the role:
  • Operation of locomotives, including mainline, shunting, and marshalling.
  • Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
  • Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of on-time running.
  • Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives.
  • Provide high-quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives.
About you:
  • Strong commitment to safety and Aurizon’s safety strategy "I Know Safe, I Choose Safe."
  • Availability to work a 24/7 shift roster.
  • Experience working with ARTC Code of Practice & Safe Working systems (SA, WA, VIC, NT) is advantageous.
  • Experience operating air brake.
  • Extensive freight and/or heavy haulage locomotive driving experience.
  • Train Driver Qualifications (Freight) .

The ability to successfully pass pre-employment checks such as driving history checks, reference checks, and a CAT 1 Rail medical is required for these roles. Please note, these positions are not FIFO/DIDO.
