Job summary

Aurizon is seeking a safety-focused Qualified Locomotive Driver to join our Mount Isa regional depot. You will examine and certify trains as ready for departure and operate locomotives across mainline, shunting, marshalling, and customer sites.

We require a Certificate IV in Rail Operations, an unrestricted Class C licence, and extensive freight locomotive experience. This full-time role involves a 24/7 shift roster with opportunities within Australia’s largest rail freight operator.

  • Must have extensive freight locomotive driving experience.
  • Certificate IV in Rail Operations is mandatory.
  • Current unrestricted Class C drivers licence is mandatory.

  • Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of on-time running.
  • Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives.
  • Provide high quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives.

We are looking for a safety focused Qualified Locomotive Driver that can commit to our regional depot and become part of the beautiful country town of Mount Isa.

About the role:
  • Examine and certify trains as ready for departure
  • Operation of locomotives including mainline, shunting, marshalling and on customer sites.
  • Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures
  • Maintain a high level of on-time running
  • Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives
  • Provide high quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives
About you:
  • A certificate IV in Rail Operations is mandatory
  • Current unrestricted Class C drivers licence is mandatory
  • Extensive freight and/or heavy haulage locomotive driving experience.
  • Must be available to work 24/7 shift roster

Successful candidates will need to provide evidence of the units of competence successfully attained from the TLI 42615 Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Rail Operations).
