Job summary

Mission Australia is seeking a Local Area Coordinator in Mount Barker on a part-time, fixed-term basis until 30 June 2027. You’ll support people with disability to access NDIS services, build confidence, and increase community participation.

You’ll work with families, carers and community organisations to deliver person-centred support, manage a caseload, and meet funding and quality requirements.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification in Human Services, Social Work, Community Services or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with a person-centred, strengths-based approach.
  • Experience managing a caseload and delivering positive outcomes in NDIS/community services.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise in a KPI-driven environment.
  • Strong digital literacy with client management systems and databases.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check and onboarding requirements.
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred support to people with disability and their families.
  • Build trusted relationships to understand goals and assist navigation of the NDIS.
  • Empower participants to access appropriate supports and options.
  • Collaborate with families, carers, NDIA and service providers to achieve outcomes.

Your Key Responsibilitieswill be to
  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred support to people with disability, their families and carers.
  • Build trusted relationships with participants to understand their goals, strengths and support needs, and assist them to navigate the NDIS.
  • Empower participants to make informed decisions and connect with appropriate community, mainstream, informal and funded supports.
  • Collaborate with families, carers, the NDIA, community organisations and other stakeholders to achieve positive participant outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate participant records, complete administrative tasks, and meet contractual, legislative and quality requirements.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture through continuous learning, quality improvement and professional development.
Requirementsfor Success
  • Relevant qualification in Human Services, Social Work, Community Services or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supporting people with disability using a person-centred, strengths-based approach.
  • Experience managing a caseload and delivering positive outcomes within an NDIS or community services environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a KPI-driven environment.
  • Strong digital literacy, with confidence using client management systems, databases and administrative platforms.
  • Resilience, adaptability and the ability to navigate change while maintaining a focus on quality participant outcomes.
  • Ability to meet NDIS Worker Screening Check and NDIA onboarding requirements.
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence with no restrictions.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
