Job summary

Heidelberg Materials’ Cairns Concrete Plant is seeking a Loader Driver / Yard Supervisor to operate a modern loader and manage the yard, raw materials and deliveries. You’ll work at our Cairns site with a hands-on role in material handling and loading operations.

The position offers an hourly rate of 32.61–36.39 AUD depending on experience, with 45–55 hours weekly, overtime after 8 hours (time and a half) and after 10 hours (double time), and a supportive team culture.

Qualifications

• Front-End Loader Ticket / VOC required.
• Construction White Card required or willingness to obtain.
• Experience operating heavy machinery in quarry, yard, concrete plant or similar.
• Safety-first mindset and following procedures.

Responsibilities

• Material handling: manage stockpiles and feed plant bins/conveyors.
• Loading operations: load aggregates into hoppers and trucks.
• Yard maintenance: keep storage areas clean and organized; manage dust control; pre/post-checks.
• Safety & compliance: follow site plans, wear PPE, conduct daily safety inspections.
• Completing stock takes.

Job description

Why This Role?

A Loader Driver / Yard Supervisor based out of our Cairns Concrete Plant.

Hourly rate: ranging from $32.61 to $36.39 depending on experience.

Overtime: time and a half after 8 hours, double time after 10 hours.

45 to 55 average weekly hours, Monday to Saturday work as needed.

Position Duties:

• Material Handling: Push up and manage aggregate / sand stockpiles and feed the plant's bins and conveyor systems
• Loading Operations: Safely load raw aggregates into concrete plant hoppers and load external tippers and trucks
• Yard Maintenance: Maintain clean and organized material storage areas and surrounding plant, manage dust control, and perform routine pre- and post-start equipment checks
• Safety & Compliance: Adhere to site traffic management plans, wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and conduct daily safety inspections on the loader
• Completing stock takes

About You

• A Front-End Loader Ticket / VOC (Verification of Competency)
• A current Construction White Card (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience: Hands‑on experience operating heavy machinery in a quarry, sand/soil yard, concrete batching plant or similar environment
• Basic machinery troubleshooting
• Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to adapt to change quickly and follow processes and procedures.
• Safety‑first attitude and commitment to maintaining a clean, presentable yard and loader
