Job summary

Heidelberg Materials Australia is seeking a hands-on Concrete Production Supervisor to oversee day-to-day batching, logistics and plant operations in Cairns. You’ll lead a small team, ensure AS1379 batching standards, manage stock in SAP, and maintain safety and quality while meeting customer deadlines.

You’ll collaborate with the Plant Manager, drive continuous improvement, and support drivers and contractors on site.

Qualifications

• Batching/production experience or familiarity with concrete batching processes.
• Strong planning, organisation and proactive problem solving.
• Ability to communicate clearly and challenge processes when needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day batching and production to AS1379 standards.
• Keep raw materials stocked, organised, and recorded in SAP.
• Monitor plant performance, plan maintenance, and minimise downtime.
• Build strong relationships with customers, take orders, and resolve issues.
• Gather local market intel and support sales activity.
• Ensure safety, environmental compliance, and quality standards.
• Guide and support drivers, contractors, and visitors on site.

If you’re the kind of person who likes running a tight ship, keeping things moving, and making sure customers get what they need when they need it this role is your playground.

We’re looking for a hands‑on, tech‑savvy, people‑smart leader to oversee daily concrete plant operations. You’ll be the go‑to for batching, logistics, customer service, and keeping the plant humming all while supporting a culture of Zero Harm and best practice.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Running day‑to‑day batching and production to AS1379 standards.
• Keeping raw materials stocked, organised, and recorded accurately in SAP.
• Monitoring plant performance, arranging maintenance, and minimising downtime.
• Building strong relationships with customers taking orders, solving problems, and keeping communication clear.
• Gathering local market intel and supporting sales activity.
• Ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and quality standards are always met.
• Supporting and guiding drivers, contractors, and visitors on site.

What You Bring

• Strong computer confidence - SAP, emails, scheduling, stock control, reporting.
• A natural organiser who stays ahead of issues before they become problems.
• Someone who speaks up, suggests improvements, and isn't afraid to challenge how it's always been done.
• Previous batching and operational experience (concrete or similar) would be highly regarded but not essential.
• Ability to work independently while keeping communication tight with your Plant Manager.
• Front End Loader competency (forklift and HR licence a bonus) highly regarded.
