Job summary

Penrith City Council is seeking a Library Technician to support acquisitions, catalogue maintenance and stock takes in our community libraries. This full-time role provides friendly customer service and collaborative teamwork.

You will maintain accurate catalogue records, assist customers with resources and technology, and help grow our diverse collections while contributing to a supportive workplace.

Applicants must have library experience and the ability to pass required checks.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a library environment.
• Experience with cataloguing and collection maintenance.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to provide instruction on a wide variety of services, resources and technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, combined with sound judgement and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain accurate library catalogue records so customers can easily find and access resources.
• Contribute to the selection and acquisition of resources to reflect our diverse and growing community.
• Assist with ongoing collection maintenance including stocktake and weeding activities.
• Provide friendly and professional customer service, helping people use library services, access information and navigate technology.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve team goals and contribute to a productive and supportive workplace culture.
