Job summary

Sutherland Shire Council in NSW is seeking enthusiastic Library Assistants to deliver friendly customer service, assist with loans, memberships and digital resources, and help visitors navigate our services.

You will support children's and youth initiatives, maintain welcoming collections, contribute ideas to improve services, and work across the library network within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Candidate should have strong customer service and community engagement experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Comfort with computers, digital resources and emerging technologies.

Whether you're recommending a new read, helping someone navigate technology, supporting a children's activity or welcoming a new member, you'll play an important role in connecting our community with the services and resources they need.

What You'll Be Doing

Essential Requirements

• Working With Children Check
• Studying towards, willing to undertake, or completed a Library and Information Services qualification (or equivalent)

Desirable

• Previous public library experience
• Current Driver's Licence

• Hours of work: Permanent part-time opportunities are available. Applicants must be available to work a range of shifts across a 7-day roster between 8:00am and 9:00pm to support the operational needs of our libraries. Weekend penalty rates are paid in accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement.
