Job summary

Sutherland Shire Council’s Libraries team is seeking enthusiastic Library Assistants to welcome visitors, guide readers, assist with loans and memberships, and connect people with books, technology and programs across our network.

You’ll join a friendly, customer‑focused workforce, work a range of shifts across a 7‑day roster, and access wellbeing programs, training and development opportunities in a supportive community environment.

Qualifications

• Public library experience preferred.
• Working With Children Check required.
• Studying towards or completed Library and Information Services qualification.

Responsibilities

• Create welcoming experiences for library customers.
• Assist with loans, returns, memberships and reservations.
• Help customers access technology and digital resources.
• Maintain attractive, organised and accessible collections.
• Support the delivery of library programs, events and community activities.
• Assist with children's and youth initiatives.
• Work across our library network to support service delivery.
• Contribute ideas that help us continually improve our services.
