Job summary

Banana Shire Council is seeking a motivated Library Assistant – Programs and Engagement to support a high-quality library service across Banana Shire communities. You will plan and deliver outreach, assist with events, and help manage collections using the library database.

The role requires strong customer service, independent work, initiative and good communication. You’ll work with volunteers and trainees, support local history collections, and contribute to public relations while ensuring

Qualifications

Ability to plan and implement community engagement activities for various target groups.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise initiative.
Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated time management and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise workloads.
Good understanding of and commitment to EEO and WHS principles and practices.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver outreach sessions and activities tailored to local needs.
Assist with promotional and marketing activities and events.
Process library materials, including cataloguing, loans, and branch exchanges.
Provide quality customer service and manage requests and branch exchanges.
Provide information and reference assistance using the online catalogue and public computers.
Manage collection and events in line with budget.
