Job summary

St James' Primary School Muswellbrook is seeking 1 permanent full-time and 1 permanent part-time (0.6FTE) Learning Support Teacher to join from January 2027. The role focuses on enabling each child to grow academically and spiritually within a Catholic context.

Responsibilities include identifying needs, delivering interventions, differentiating curriculum, and collaborating with staff to develop inclusive learning plans, with an emphasis on data-driven practice and transitions.

Qualifications

• Clear commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools.
• Experience working with students with disability (K-6).
• Ability to collaborate with staff, CSO personnel and external partners.
• Experience in delivering professional learning for staff and parents.
• Ability to use assessment data to determine adjustments for students.
• Experience preparing Personalised Plans and Learner Profiles.

Responsibilities

• Identify students with special educational needs and facilitate referrals and assessments.
• Deliver intervention, teach students, and support curriculum differentiation.
• Collaborate with teachers to design and monitor adjustments in PP/LP documents.
• Work with other Learning Support personnel and contribute to staff development.
• Prepare documentation to meet privacy, confidentiality, and statutory obligations.
• Support transitions and liaise with partner schools and CSO staff.
• Assist in building inclusive learning environments and capacity in staff.
