Job summary

Change for Youth Foundation in South Brisbane is seeking a Learning Support Mentor to deliver intensive, one-to-one learning and wellbeing support for children in out-of-home care across Queensland. You will mentor students weekly in maths and literacy, guided by trauma-informed practices and a connected care model.

Training is provided, and you will report progress to teachers, carers, and program managers, helping to close curriculum gaps and re-engage students with education.

Qualifications

• Applicants are youth workers or current education/psychology students.
• Strong maths and literacy skills required.
• Availability Mon-Fri with some Saturdays.
• Blue Card or willingness to obtain.
• Current driver's license and access to a vehicle.
• Year 12 maths and literacy results to be included.
• Commitment of 4-term minimum through to 2027.
• Excellent communication with carers and program managers.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one learning and wellbeing support.
• Deliver sessions focusing on literacy, numeracy, confidence, and engagement.
• Complete weekly real-time session reports for teachers, carers and the Department.
• Attend supervision and provide feedback to the program manager.
• Work in-home across Queensland with confidentiality maintained.
