Job summary

selectability is seeking an enthusiastic Youth Mentor to join our BikeShed Program in Rockhampton. This part-time fixed-term role supports after-school activities such as bike repair, group cycling, and life skills workshops, guiding at-risk youth toward education, employment readiness, and community engagement.

You will work with First Nations Elders, promote family connections, and provide mentoring to those disengaged or involved in the justice system.

About you

To be considered for this rewarding role you will have:

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise conflicting priorities as required
• Ability to work under minimal supervision with the capacity to exercise initiative in the application of work processes and procedures and establish objectives and outcomes
• Demonstrated ability to show empathy and compassion
• Proven ability to think critically and approach challenges with innovation

Role Requirements

• Previous experience working with disadvantaged youth
• Current nationally recognised First Aid and CPR certificates (or ability to obtain)
• Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (or the ability to obtain)
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or the ability to obtain)
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module "Quality, Safety & You" completion certificate (or the ability to obtain)
• Current minimum P1 "C" class Queensland drivers licence
• Roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance

About the offer

The Youth Mentor is a permanent part-time fixed term position until 31 March 2027 based in Rockhampton.

This role works directly with young people and requires the employee to actively demonstrate child safe, trauma-informed and culturally safe practice through daily interactions, decision-making, supervision, and documentation.
