Job summary

MacKellar Group is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Diesel Fitter to lead the maintenance crew at a coal mine near Blackwater in Queensland. The role combines hands-on diesel fitting with crew leadership to keep heavy mining equipment operating safely and reliably.

You will supervise maintenance activities, coordinate servicing and diagnostics, and drive shift targets on a 7/7 day/night roster. Camp meals and PPE are provided, with opportunities for long-term career development.

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications as a Diesel Fitter or Plant Mechanic.
• Previous Leading Hand or supervisory experience in mining or heavy equipment maintenance.
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Experience maintaining heavy mobile mining equipment.
• Ability to lead a crew and work effectively in a production-focused environment.
• A current Driver’s Licence.
• Standard 11 and S1, S2, S3 or G1, G8, G9 qualifications, or willingness to obtain.

MacKellar is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Diesel Fitter to support our maintenance team at a coal mine near Blackwater. This is an opportunity to combine your hands‑on mechanical skills with crew leadership, helping maintain the performance and reliability of heavy mining equipment.

About the Role

Working alongside the maintenance team, you will lead by example on shift, coordinate maintenance activities and help ensure equipment is maintained safely and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:
