Job summary

MacKellar Group in Blackwater, QLD, is seeking an Excavator & Ancillary Maintenance Supervisor to lead a maintenance team on a long-term mining project. You'll oversee a modern Liebherr fleet, drive reliability and support a safety-focused culture on site.

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will coordinate maintenance activities, develop tradespeople, and ensure high-quality maintenance records while delivering safe, reliable operations for the project workforce.

Qualifications

• Experience leading mining maintenance teams.
• Strong knowledge of excavator and ancillary equipment maintenance.
• Ability to plan maintenance, shutdowns and breakdowns.
• Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities across excavators and ancillary equipment.
• Supervise, coach and develop tradespeople and maintenance personnel.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with site procedures and standards.
• Coordinate planned maintenance, shutdowns and breakdown repairs.
• Monitor equipment reliability, performance and fleet availability; work with planning and operations teams to prioritise maintenance requirements.

Lead a modern mining maintenance operation MacKellar is seeking an experienced Excavator & Ancillary Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team on a long-term mining project in the Blackwater area.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of maintenance performance across a modern fleet of Liebherr excavators and ancillary equipment, leading a team of tradespeople to deliver safe, reliable and efficient outcomes.

Working closely with the Maintenance Superintendent, you'll play a key role in equipment reliability, fleet availability and team development, with the support of an established mining contractor.

About the role

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you'll lead and coordinate maintenance activities across the site's excavator and ancillary fleet, ensuring equipment is maintained to a high standard and available to support operational requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and coordinating daily maintenance activities across excavators and ancillary equipment
• Supervising, coaching and developing tradespeople and maintenance personnel
• Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with site procedures and standards
• Coordinating planned maintenance, shutdowns and breakdown repairs
• Monitoring equipment reliability, performance and fleet availabilityWorking with planning and operations teams to prioritise maintenance requirements
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship, productivity and maintenance quality
• Identifying opportunities to improve maintenance processes and equipment performance
• Ensuring maintenance records, reporting and documentation are completed accurately

About you

You're a hands-on maintenance leader with a strong background in heavy mobile equipment and the ability to lead a team in a demanding mining environment. You understand the importance of planning, equipment reliability and developing your people to deliver safe, consistent results.

To be successful, you'll bring:

• Previous experience in a mining maintenance supervisory or leadership role
• Strong knowledge of excavator and ancillary equipment maintenance, with Liebherr experience highly regarded
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop a team of tradespeople
• Experience coordinating planned maintenance, shutdowns and breakdown activities
• A strong commitment to safety, maintenance quality and continuous improvement
• Effective communication, planning and problem-solving skills
• The ability to work collaboratively with maintenance planning and operations teams
• A current Australian driver's licence
• A relevant mechanical trade qualification, highly regarded
