Job summary

MacKellar Group is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Diesel Fitter to lead the maintenance team on a 7/7 rotating day/night roster at a coal mine near Blackwater. You will coordinate servicing, repairs, and fault-finding on heavy mining equipment to ensure reliability and safe operation.

With trade qualifications and previous supervisory experience, you will lead a crew, promote safety, and drive continuous improvement while enjoying camp accommodation, meals, PPE, and long-term development

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications as a Diesel Fitter or Plant Mechanic
• Previous Leading Hand or supervisory experience in mining or heavy equipment maintenance
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting and repair skills
• Experience maintaining heavy mobile mining equipment
• The ability to lead a crew and work effectively in a production-focused environment
• A current Driver’s Licence
• Standard 11 and S1, S2, S3 or G1, G8, G9 qualifications, or willingness to obtain

MacKellar is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Diesel Fitter to support our maintenance team at a coal mine near Blackwater. This is an opportunity to combine your hands‑on mechanical skills with crew leadership, helping maintain the performance and reliability of heavy mining equipment.

• Permanent full-time position on a 7/7 rotating day/night roster
• $79.23 per hour + super on all hours worked
• Approx. $180,000 annual earnings

About the Role

Working alongside the maintenance team, you will lead by example on shift, coordinate maintenance activities and help ensure equipment is maintained safely and efficiently.
