Job summary

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Australia) Pty Ltd, Somerton branch, seeks an experienced Workshop Supervisor to lead the workshop team and drive productivity, safety and quality across build and service repairs.

You will mentor technicians and apprentices, plan daily workflows, uphold WHS standards, manage documentation and job cost, and contribute to continuous improvement while reporting to the Service Manager. This is a permanent full-time role with a supportive culture.

Qualifications

• Proven supervisory experience with strong leadership capability.
• A demonstrated commitment to safety and a solid understanding of WHS principles.
• Experience in earthmoving equipment maintenance.
• Excellent time management with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to support and drive positive change.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on keeping all stakeholders informed.

Responsibilities

• Leading from the front by mentoring and developing technicians and apprentices, building strong technical capability and workmanship standards.
• Managing & planning daily workflows to optimise labour, and utilisation of equipment and resources.
• Promoting and enforcing a strong, proactive safety culture aligned with WHS standards.
• Maintaining strong attention to detail across all work, reducing rework and ensuring first-time fix success on both new builds and repairs.
• Ensuring accurate job documentation, service records, and compliance with warranty and OEM reporting requirements.
• Monitoring WIP, job costing, and workshop efficiency, identifying opportunities to improve productivity and service quality.
