Job summary

UGL Regional Linx based in Orange, NSW, is seeking a Principal Rail Corridor Access Engineer to provide technical leadership across corridor access activities supporting the NSW CRN. You will lead a team of specialists, guide decision-making with stakeholders, and ensure safe, practical outcomes for the network and communities.

You will coordinate multidisciplinary assessments and mentor staff, driving continuous improvement in engineering practices, safety, and asset integrity across projects

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Civil preferred).
• Strong technical and engineering assessment skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead Corridor Access team to deliver high-quality engineering outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership for third-party works, development applications, corridor access proposals, property activities, and related projects.
• Review proposals against CRN standards and asset management principles; identify and manage safety and operational risks.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary assessments involving track, civil, structural, signalling, telecommunications, geotechnical, maintenance, and operations stakeholders.
• Oversee Heavy Vehicle application assessments with support of the Heavy Vehicle Coordinator and Structures Engineer.
• Collaborate with applicants, designers, utilities, councils, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and develop practical, safe solutions.
• Provide clear engineering advice and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
• Mentor and develop team members through coaching, knowledge sharing, and capability-building initiatives.
• Champion continuous improvement across systems, processes, templates, and engineering practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining safety, compliance, and asset integrity.
