Job summary

Zeal Engineering seeks a Lead Project Engineer in Perth to join an owner's team delivering gold projects from study through commissioning. You will support the Project Manager, ensure on-budget, on-schedule delivery, and oversee multidisciplinary mining initiatives.

Based in Perth, site presence required during construction and commissioning. The role covers engineering management, tendering, vendor interfaces, and risk-based safety leadership.

Qualifications

• Recognised Engineering Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or SMP background.
• Mining and resources sector experience, local or international projects.
• Proven estimating, tendering, package management, and cost/schedule accountability.
• Strong ability to identify project risks and lead safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering management, project planning, reporting, and on-site construction support across local and international projects.
• Prepare, evaluate, adjudicate, and award tender and contractor packages.
• Manage interfaces and monitor performance across vendors, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Interpret drawings and documents to resolve complex technical issues.
• Liaise with client-side and site stakeholders on technical and delivery requirements.

Working with a dynamic, Perth-based engineering consultancy, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Lead Project Engineer to join an owner's team delivering gold projects from study through to commissioning.

About The Role

Based in Perth with site presence required through construction and commissioning, you will support the Project Manager in delivering multi-disciplinary mining projects on budget, on schedule, and to high-quality standards.

• Project Execution: Provide engineering management, project planning, reporting, and on-site construction support across local and international projects.
• Contracts & Packages: Prepare, evaluate, adjudicate, and award tender and contractor packages.
• Vendor & Interface Management: Manage interfaces and monitor performance across vendors, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Technical Resolution: Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications, and scopes to resolve complex technical and design issues.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise directly with key client-side and site stakeholders on technical and project delivery requirements.

About You

• Qualifications: Recognised Engineering Degree (Civil, Mechanical, or SMP background preferred).
• Industry Experience: Essential background in the mining and resources sector across local or international projects.
• Commercial Capability: Proven estimating, tendering, package management, and cost/schedule accountability.
• Risk & Safety Leadership: Strong ability to identify project risks, implement mitigation strategies, and maintain a high standard of workplace health and safety.
