Optus is seeking an Associate Director, Observability Engineering to define the strategy, standards and delivery of enterprise observability. You’ll provide end-to-end visibility across network services, platforms and infrastructure to support proactive, AI-driven operations and improved customer outcomes.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership experience across telecommunications, Network Operations, observability, service assurance, OSS or large-scale technology environments.
• Experience leading enterprise-scale observability, monitoring and telemetry engineering.
• Strong knowledge of metrics, logs and traces and telemetry pipelines.
• Ability to lead cross-domain teams and influence senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the observability strategy, roadmap and capability maturity across domains.
• Lead the engineering of telemetry capabilities (metrics, logs, events, traces).
• Enable service-aware observability across network, OSS, cloud and platforms.
• Establish data quality controls and governance for telemetry.
• Drive adoption and optimisation of observability capabilities.
• Lead cross-functional stakeholder engagement and partnerships.
