Job summary

BHP is seeking a Lead Engineer Power for Copper SA in Adelaide, South Australia. You will lead the power engineering function across Copper SA, guiding high-voltage systems to ensure safe, reliable operations and compliance as the energy transition progresses.

You will collaborate with regulatory bodies, network providers and senior leaders to strengthen resilience, asset integrity and operational performance across Copper SA’s power networks.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in power system engineering, including transmission, distribution and high-voltage networks.
• Experience leading engineering professionals and technical teams.
• Knowledge of power system governance, engineering assurance and asset integrity principles.
• Experience managing risk, supporting incident investigations and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, evidence-based advice to senior leaders.
• Experience working with electricity regulators, market operators or network providers will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of power engineering professionals, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical leadership, governance and engineering assurance across high-voltage power systems supporting Copper SA operations.
• Support power system reliability, outage management and business continuity in partnership with operations, maintenance and asset management teams.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations, engineering standards and connection requirements while managing audits, reporting and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Identify, assess and mitigate critical power system risks to improve resilience and operational performance.
• Provide technical and regulatory leadership for growth studies, capital projects and infrastructure integration activities.
• Engage with key industry and regulatory stakeholders, including market operators and network providers, to support compliance and business objectives.
