Job summary

The Reef Hotel Casino Cairns is seeking a Kitchen Steward to support our busy kitchen team in Cairns. This role focuses on cleanliness, dishwashing and helping with stock and basic kitchen duties.

You will maintain hygiene and safety standards under WHS guidelines, work well under pressure, and be a committed team player. In house training, uniforms and staff facilities are provided, including staff lounges and discounts. Accommodation is available for eligible staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as a steward/kitchen hand.
• Trained in the use of chemicals and manual handling.
• Working knowledge of WHS requirements in a kitchen environment.
• Ability to accommodate flexibility with hours/shifts.
• Able to work under pressure and stay motivated.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of kitchens and loading areas per WHS standards.
• Clean and organise dishes; manage stock and inventory.
• Maintain hygiene and quality in the kitchen; monitor breakages and replacements.

Job description

We are seeking a Kitchen Steward at The Reef Hotel Casino, the pre-eminent centre for gaming, entertainment, food and accommodation in Cairns.

Key Responsibilities

Cleanliness of kitchens and loading areas by maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment whilst adhering to operational standards and procedures according to WH&S requirements.

Cleaning and organising dishes, taking stock of inventory, maintaining hygiene and quality in the kitchen, keeping a tab on breakage and replacements.

Criteria

Minimum 1-year experience as a steward/kitchen hand, preferably in a hotel environment.

Trained in the use of chemicals and manual handling.

Working knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and Workplace Health and Safety requirements.

The ability to accommodate flexibility with hours / shifts.

Able to work and be motivated when under pressure.

Committed team player, who contributes and assists co-workers without being asked.
