Job summary

NEX Building Group Pty Ltd is seeking a Junior Estimator in NSW, Newcastle-Maitland area to deliver precise estimates and documentation for residential construction projects. You will work with internal teams and suppliers to ensure accuracy and readiness for construction.

Ideal candidates will have a construction management degree, strong numerical skills, and proficiency in Excel. This is a 12-month contract with potential extension, with on-site engagement and opportunities for professional

Qualifications

• Ability to analyse plans and contract documents for accuracy.
• Strong numerical and cost estimation capabilities.
• Proficient in reading technical drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Set up construction projects by delivering precise estimates and documentation.
• Complete material, labour and plant take-offs with accuracy.
• Coordinate and manage documentation amendments prior to construction.
• Issue and manage purchase orders in line with supplier agreements.
• Review supplier quotes to ensure full project scope is covered.
• Process ETS invoices and manage cost reconciliation.
• Maintain project records across systems and support quality control.

About the opportunity

Play a key role in setting construction projects up for success by delivering precise, high-quality estimates and documentation. You’ll work closely with internal teams and suppliers to ensure every job is accurate, consistent, and ready for construction. More specifically, you will:

• 12 Month contract with the possibility of extension
• Analyse plans and contract documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency
• Complete detailed material, labour, and plant take-offs
• Coordinate and manage documentation amendments prior to construction
• Issue and manage purchase orders in line with supplier agreements
• Review supplier quotes to ensure full project scope is covered
• Process ETS invoices and manage cost reconciliation
• Maintain project records and documentation across systems
• Support quality control by reviewing team outputs and managing variations

About you

You will share a passion for our purpose to be Australia’s number one residential builder and be aligned to our core values. In addition, you will demonstrate:

• Availability to work 4-5 days a week
• A degree in Construction Management or similar
• Good with numbers and a genuine interest in residential construction
• Understanding of Building Code of Australia and BASIX
• Exceptional computer skills with a medium to advanced knowledge of Excel
• Strong ability to read and interpret plans and technical documentation
• High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality
• Sound understanding of building processes, materials, and costings
